Helen’s paper is published!
We are very happy to see Helen’s paper finally published. This paper shows that the activity of enhancers and their looping over to the target gene promoters is often mediated by the same sequences and likely by the same transcription factors recruited to them. The paper is freely available at Nature Communications here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-025-55900-3 and a news article summarising it for broad audiences is available on our institute website: https://lms.mrc.ac.uk/human-genetics-provides-clues-to-why-dna-regulatory-regions-get-loopy/.
It has been a long journey, and Helen and many other authors have now moved on from our lab. It’s been a truly heroic effort by Helen and our fantastic collaborators (in particular, Leonardo Bottolo, Elena Vigorito and Lera Malysheva) to see this paper through revisions.
